I impounded a vehicle recently for Law enforcement and completed all the paperwork that MO requires. The Lein holder contacted me two days before the 30 days were up. They stated they thought the owner was a service member. I asked what made them think that. They had no answer for me. I don’t want to break the law and selling a service member vehicle would be unacceptable. I worried about this and did a search online. I found a  government website for SCRA and was able to do a search after I obtained the owners date of birth. The vehicle had no marking or any thing indicating service member and the SCRS search didn’t show any service active or inactive. Is SCRS site current? My question is how do we determine if it is a service member? Is looking over the car good enough? Are we required to search the SCRA site? If so it only works if you have date of birth info ( I think). A follow up to your article with some suggestions of procedure would be great.
